Some favorite things last week …
Yesterday, I came upon a couple of lovely blog posts, just a couple of things that made me smile …
- One is from My Paper Crane, and although she is missing her holiday decor, I thought the pictures of her abode were quite nice, specifically her choices in color. I think her dining room looks like pure sunshine! It’s so cheery and … also so stunningly clean.
- iHanna treated us with a story of a tiny elephant and accompanying tiny elephant softie pictures. I agree with the commenter who suggested the possible children’s book.
I also found a helpful resource this week - the folks at KnitMap offer us the ability to search for yarn shops where you live, with options! You can ask for yarn shops with refreshments and seating, ones open at certain times, ones with wifi and classes … very nice.
I wonder if there’s a blog award you can win for Spontaneously Geeking Out? If so, Kim Werker of CrochetMe wins for her Jan. 2 post in which she reveals sliding headlong into Joss Whedon-land, then drifting quickly into Buffy comic books and thence into Neil Gaiman-land, ending with a reference to her voracious consumption of Harry Potter. Very nice, indeed.
Tempted … but not in time …
As usual, I am tempted to wear something to the annual Comp’ny party that makes people sorta cock their heads to the side and wonder if I’m really wearing that. I don’t often DO that, but I always want to.
(Have I mentioned that my cat likes beer? It’s really a problem when you have to remember she’s going to stick her whole head in it if you don’t stop her.)
Anyway, so if I’d been in time, I might have found something. Sadly, I wasn’t in time, since our holiday party was last week. All I had was beaded Santa earrings. Apparently, my love of the handmade is spreading, since more than one person asked me if I’d made them - certainly not! since beading takes way more patience than I’ll ever have.
So, these are things I wish I’d found earlier on Etsy:

Left, the Jolly Roger Santa shrinky dink bracelet from Dismissie.
Right, the silly and detailed, red and silver articulated Santa Pendant from Joan Miller Porcelain. Great details!

Left, the Define Good pendant from Shabby Texas Chick asks the quintessential question. On the reverse she says “Be Naughty! Save Santa the trip.:” Classic.
Right, the Naughty or Nice necklace prompts you to wonder. And others, too. From Kristi Silva.
Now for some cute stuff (because I’m completely a sucker for cute stuff):

Left, the Santa Penguin earrings are from Willow Shines, and are as cute as can be.
The Bunny Santa pendant is beyond adorable, with that one little ear and those cute little paws. From stevo luv munchkin.
Now, I’m going to go buy one of these (for next year), so which do you think I’ll pick?
Fave How-Tos Last Week
In the category of “Ways to Whack At Stuff and Still Call it Crafting” we have …

(2) A post from a while ago on Monster Crochet will tell you how to stab something repeatedly, also known as learning needle felting.
Plus you can become your very own favorite printer by doing …
(1) Self-publish a book of your blog with Hanna Andersson via the latest podcast at CraftyPod.
(2) Figure out what “gocco” means and that it rhymes with “loco” on the Get Crafty blog with Nancy Flynn.
And if you’re inspired to become a tycoon entrepreneur and need some tips,
You can check out this lovely list of business books for women over at the Design*Sponge guest blog.
