It really *was* 2007 when I did this design :)

I definitely don't think obedience training turns dog into anything but ... dogs with better self control. Wesley requires *a lot* of exercise and interaction ... it's one reason we do the obedience classes, because it gives his doggie brain something extra to chew on, and he will need it to one day do agility classes. I think he will find that a lot of fun! He is also still a puppy, hence some of the chewing and the extra energy. Plus he destroys things when we're gone because he has some separation anxiety, but we've been working on that and he seems to feel more secure now. I think the idea of a day care/play day for Wesley sounds like a great idea though ... he'd probably really like it.

Fortunately three rounds of obedience training haven't turned Stella into an automaton! She still has all her personality but now she shows off by waiting for the word before she eats and occasionally coming when called (but not when she knows there are rabbits out there!). In my limited experience, it sounds like Wesley needs more exercise. I found a wonderful day care for Stella and when she has more energy than I can reasonably help her expend, off she goes for a day with dogs. She comes home exhausted. You may have noticed how much better dogs behave when they are tired. We're hoping that our training place will soon offer a "fun agility" class. It sounds like it will burn off enough of Stella's energy (though she's curled in a little dog ball next to me right now).

Beautiful photos. Was it really back in 2007 when you redesigned the site? That long ago? Gosh, time flies! I still really love the design.

I still need to meet Wesley -- he sounds like a handful, but in a good way. :)
