Makin’ curtains, printing recipes

I’m struggling with things this afternoon … curtain-making for one. I ask you, how many times do I have to go take measurements of the $*%& window before I write them down somewhere I can remember? I mean, really!!

I also have put the sixth coat of polyurethane on my decoupaged tables. They’re getting closer to completion, but doing this paint-dry-paint-dry thing is taking a while. I’d also like to point out that my crafting urges have led to the most exciting pasttime ever - watching paint dry. It’s all excitement around here, let me tell you.

I also spent some time putting my recipes into a cheat sheet so I don’t have to run around wondering what goes in things I like and make a lot. I tend to forget small details and just one important ingredient, even if I’ve made it 1000 times. It’s not ALL my recipes, just ones I use a lot and am particularly fond of. Well, technically I don’t make fried chicken or fritters a lot, but they are dear to my heart (so Southern ack!). The rest of it, yeah, all common things you’ll find here in Casa Miriam. I want to say I got this idea for a cheat sheet from Amy Karol - hers is almost all desserts! Do not laugh at my selections. My stomach is what it is, and likes what it likes (which seems to be breakfast breads, corn and chicken).

Feeling like some jewelry

Shopping again! Like always. I spend too much time on Etsy. This time I’m shopping for metal. I got a pair of bronze shoes, and now I seem to think I must have things that go with them. One wonders - should I maybe have considered buying shoes that go with the things I have? No, of course not. That only limits the shopping options, you see.

People making things in bronze and brass seem to go for the filigreed and antiqued looks. This probably explains my attraction to those metals. I do love filigree. I wish I could make jewelry. Fussing with tiny little fastenings and wire wrapping would make me beyond crazy, though. I’ll leave that to talented folks like these.

Wee Folk Outfitters on Dawanda has completely satisfied my penchant for fairies, little people, wee folk, fey creatures, gnomes, sprites, naiads, dryads and leprechauns today. These are beautiful, handmade, whimsical tiny doors for placement around your house, store, etc. to make sure all your fairies know they’re welcome to inhabit your home (hehe).  They feature perfect handmade hinges and well-chosen knobs as well as different designs and paint/stain themes.

Fairy Doors

Gorgeous, eh!? Each is sold separately or you can buy nine if you’d like.  The one on the top left can be purchased with two additional windows, too. I think one would look quite nice on a bookshelf, leading into my books :)  After all, books are kind of another world, right?
